The main focus of a moon circle is to create and hold space for one another. Common moon circle practices include drinking tea, meditation exercises, journaling, and outward sharing. This simple ritual has a tendency to “bring down the walls” and often leads to deeper feelings of community, friendship, and healing.
Full moon circles are traditionally centered on celebration and release, while new moon circles signify new beginnings and manifestation: aka, defining what you want and making it happen!
Given the relationship between a moon’s cycle and a woman’s cycle, the moon has long been a symbol of fertility and divine feminine energy. While moon circles do tend to emit strong feminine energy, all gender identities are welcome.
What happens at Buttonwood’s New Moon Tea?
Though every New Moon Tea will hold unique traits, the principle is the same: it’s a safe and sacred gathering that falls in line with this particular lunar phase.
It’s my hope that Buttonwood can serve as a welcoming and comfortable place to find connection: with ourselves, with each other, and with the natural world.
What to expect:
✧ A small, open-minded gathering
✧ Calming music and lighting
✧ A little sage burning
✧ Going beyond “small talk,” naturally, with a leading question, or perhaps a meditation exercise.
Things to remember:
✧ Sharing is always optional.
✧ This is true circle of trust. What’s shared in the circle stays in the circle.
✧ Refrain from offering unsolicited advice. Our true goal is to “hold space” for each other. To listen, and to be heard.
Optional things to bring:
✧ A poem, passage or story to share
✧ A nature-found object that you’re drawn to
✧ A journal for noting any inspirations or reflections. (We’ve got pencils and paper handy if you don’t bring your own)
Donations keep the tea flowing! There’s a jar at the resgister (or use our paypal link) if you’re comfortable and compelled to give.
Buttonwood’s next new moon tea is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 8th at 7:00pm. RSVPs are no longer required. Check the events page prior to arrival to ensure no changes or cancellations!
